Welcome to Happy Cat Hotel & Spa Boarding and Grooming Policies!

Whether you’re here for boarding, grooming, or just curious about how we care for your feline family members, this page outlines everything you need to know before your visit. Our policies exist to keep all guests safe, healthy, and happy – and to ensure a smooth experience for both cats and humans.

Cancellation/Early Termination Policies

Boarding

  • A minimum of 7 days notice is required to cancel and keep the deposit as a credit on your account.
  • Canceling with less than 7 days notice will forfeit the deposit.
  • Early termination after checking in: Up to 3 unused nights will be charged. Charges will not exceed the original end date.
  • No-call/no-shows will forfeit the deposit and up to 3 unused nights will be charged. Charges will not exceed the original end date.

Grooming

  • Spa Club Members: A minimum of 4 days is required to cancel or reschedule, otherwise an additional fee applies to the next appointment.
  • Non-Members: A minimum of 4 days notice is required to cancel/reschedule and keep the deposit as a credit on your account. Canceling/rescheduling with less than 4 days notice will forfeit the deposit, and an additional fee will apply to the next appointment.
  • No-call/no-show: Full appointment will be charged.
Requirements: Boarding and Grooming
  • A non-refundable credit card deposit is required to reserve a room.
  • A non-refundable credit card deposit is required to book a grooming appointment (excludes Spa Club Members.)
  • Rabies Certificate and proof of FVRCP vaccination is required for all cats in advance of arrival.
    • Kittens who have yet to receive a rabies vaccine are not accepted.
    • Kittens who have not yet completed their FVRCP vaccination series must sign an additional agreement.
    • Adult cats who have been deemed exempt from FVRCP by their veterinarian must sign an additional agreement.
  • Emergency Care Authorization Form and Liability Waiver are required for boarding.
  • Grooming Registration Form is required for grooming.
  • Your cat’s profile must be complete in our system prior to boarding and grooming. (Feeding information is not required for grooming appointments.)
  • Crate Policy – All cats must enter and leave the facility in a cat carrier, one cat per carrier. There are no exceptions. Loose or leashed cats are NOT permitted to enter or leave the facility under any circumstances.
  • Complete Profile – Please ensure your cat’s profile in our system is as updated as possible prior to requesting reservations. It is critical that we have up-to-date information on your cat. Thank you!
Boarding Policies
  • Check-In & Check-Out Policies
    • Check-in: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
      • Early Bird Check-in (extra fee): 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
      • Before 12:00 PM: Requires booking the night before, earliest available time to check in is 8:30 AM or between 4-5:30 PM the previous day.
    • Check-out: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM
      • Lazy Cat Check-out (extra fee): 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
      • After 2:00 PM: Required booking the full night, latest available time to check out is 5:30 PM or 8:30-10:00 AM the next morning.
  • You must bring your cat’s food from home. Pack a few extra days worth of food in case you experience travel delays. An additional fee will apply for using Happy Cat food.
  • We supply litter boxes, litter, food dishes, and water fountains. Please do not bring these items from home. (Auto-feeders are permitted.)
  • We supply bedding, but encourage you to bring a small comfort item or two from home. Belongings must be clean. Dirty items may be washed or not accepted.
  • Room assignments are never guaranteed, although we do our very best! We reserve the right to reassign rooms based on safety, availability, or behavior. This is very common during peak seasons (summer and holidays.)
  • Additional fees may apply for services above and beyond Happy Cat Hotel’s high-quality standard of care (including but not limited to: transportation to and from the vet, medication or food pick ups, etc.)
  • Some cats require supplements to correct digestive upsets while boarding. We will contact you should we believe your cat needs a digestive supplement. A small fee applies for utilizing our supply.
  • Date changes are not always possible during peak seasons, but we do our best to accommodate all requests.
  • Additional fees may be incurred if your cat requires special services above and beyond Happy Cat’s high-quality care. Owners will be notified if this occurs.
Grooming Policies
  • Matted coats or special handling needs (including but not limited to extra time, extra groomers, difficult behavior etc) may incur additional fees.
  • Cats over 15lbs will incur an additional fee.
  • Lion cuts are reserved for only heavily matted cats or cats with a good temperament, health and body condition.
  • If your cat is uncooperative or becomes overly stressed, we may modify or stop the groom for their safety.
  • Cats with certain health conditions may require an additional authorization form to be signed.
  • Cats with unidentified skin conditions will not be groomed until deemed non-contagious by their veterinarian and cleared for grooming.
  • Cats under 12 months of age will not receive full-body shaving unless necessary.
  • Cats with open wounds, unhealed injuries or unhealed surgical incisions will not be groomed.
  • For their own safety, any medications (prescription or over-the-counter) that you administer to your cat prior to grooming should be approved/prescribed by your veterinarian.
  • Drop off/pick up:
    • Cats must be dropped off at the scheduled appointment time and picked up when finished. Happy Cat Spa will send a text message when appointments are finished.
    • Cats that arrive for grooming more than 15 minutes late may incur a late charge or may need to be rescheduled to ensure every cat receives the time they need.
    • Pick-ups within 30 minutes are appreciated (by us and your cat!) A small fee may apply for picking up later than 30 minutes.
      • If you need to leave your cat for longer, you may request a partial day’s room rental for an additional fee (subject to availability, may not be available during peak seasons.) Your cat will be placed into one of our spacious hotel rooms with water and litter box access for their comfort. Advance notice is greatly appreciated!
  • Additional fees may be incurred if your cat requires special services above and beyond Happy Cat’s high-quality care. Owners will be notified if this occurs.
Health & Safety Policies: Boarding and Grooming
  • Not all Happy Cat locations accept diabetic cats, or cats who require subcutaneous fluids. Contact the location to inquire.
  • Intact male cats may not be accepted, or there may be additional cleaning/deodorizing fees.
  • Cats with ringworm are not accepted.
  • Any cats with skin conditions must be examined and deemed non-contagious by a veterinarian before boarding or grooming.
  • Cats with certain medical conditions or special needs may not be accepted. Additional fees may apply for accommodating certain conditions or special needs. We consider all cats on a case-by-case basis. Contact us with any questions!
  • Pregnant cats are not accepted.
  • We make every effort to ensure cats in our care receive their medication and we have an extremely high success rate, however, not every cat responds well to being handled in a new environment. We highly encourage you to book a “test stay” for your cat to assess their comfort being medicated in a new environment.
  • If your cat requires tools to be medicated (pill poppers, splitters/crushers, pill pockets, gloves, etc.) you must supply all necessary tools.
  • All cats should be up-to-date on flea & tick preventative. For boarding, all cats are inspected for fleas within 24 hours of check-in. If fleas are found:
    • Your cat will receive a Capstar pill and a flea bath.
    • A room cleaning fee (up to $175 per cat) and the cost of the groom will be charged.
  • For grooming appointments, cats with live fleas will not be groomed that day.
    • If fleas are found before the groom, you will be offered our flea grooming services. **Not all locations participate in this service. Please call to inquire.**
    • If fleas are found during the groom, a spa cleaning fee (up to $175 per cat) will be charged in addition to the groom.
    • If you suspect your cat has fleas, contact the location to inquire about flea services. Not all locations participate.
